As a Project Manager, it’s always exciting to see the months of planning and building come to life. Michaels in Waterloo was a project I particularly enjoyed working on. I personally haven’t spent a lot of time in Michaels, but my wife, Della, has with her various arts and crafts and home decor projects. She might have been more excited than I was when we initially started this reno!
Michaels, if you’re not familiar, is focused on arts & crafts. They have locations all over Canada. It is a Pinterest lovers dream. There have been countless times that Della has shown me a board on Pinterest – with some sort of creative endeavour. Then after a quick trip to Michaels, she’s able to bring that vision to life. It’s not my cup of tea, per se, but it’s great to see how happy it makes her. Almost every corner of our home has some kind of item from Michaels. And my son, Steven, went to some workshops there when he was younger. What’s best is when I’m not sure what to get Della for a special occasion, I know she’ll always appreciate something from Michaels. Ok, maybe just a gift card. I’m a clueless guy in this department!
Back to my area of expertise. The Waterloo location was in dire need of a facelift. If you’re familiar with Michaels, you’ll note the newer stores have a very clean look. Instantly recognizable. The old look was very outdated. It brings me a great sense of satisfaction to see the transformation. I even got the stamp of approval from Della!
If you have any questions about being a Project Manager, or working on this renovation in particular, I’d like to hear from you! I’m happy to answer any questions that you may have. And if you have a question about Michaels, I’ll relay comments to Della!
