Steve lived and worked in Windsor Ontario for more than 20 years. During this time, he worked mainly at Windsor Casino Limited as a Construction Manager and Project Manager. His responsibilities spanned many different areas of construction and are in detail below.

Windsor Casino Construction Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the coordination of all Facility Maintenance/CAPEX/Construction activity
  • Chairing management meetings to review Maintenance progress and performance
  • Assist Management/Staff with interpretations of drawings and corrective action
  • Obtaining detailed maintenance information for staff
  • Monitor for quality and cost effectiveness of work

Administrative duties

  • Establishing procedures for pre-qualifying contractors and suppliers
  • Preparing project specifications and bid packages
  • Schedule pre-bid and pre-award meetings
  • Expediting approval and distribution of documents and drawings
  • Updating and maintaining site copies of contract and shop drawings
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly draws and billings
  • Preparation of annual maintenance budgets
  • Locating suppliers and acquiring competitive prices


  • Preparing preliminary schedules for sub-trades
  • Setting target dates for project activities and monitoring sub-trade performance
  • Maintaining records on sub-trades performance
  • Ensuring long delivery items will arrive on time
  • Ensuring project schedules are maintained
  • Developing and implementing PM programs / work order programs

Liaison with owners, architects and design consultants

  • Verifying and correlating between architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical
  • Obtaining permits from city officials and ensuring that by-laws are respected
  • Meeting with structural, mechanical and electrical engineers regarding special procedures
  • Commissioning, turnover and close-out

Safety Management

  • Work with the Ontario Ministry of Labour Inspectors, Windsor Fire, TSSA, ESA and other government agencies to ensure compliance with legislation and by-laws
  • Establish action plans for emergencies
  • Chair Monthly Health and Safety Committee Meetings and Monthly Fire Safety Committee Meetings
  • Implement and conduct safety orientation
  • Set up procedures for extraordinary work activities. E.g. confined spaces
